FAQs

Can anyone do the Bubble EFT Training, or is it only for therapists and health professionals?

The Bubble is designed especially for mental health professionals but is not exclusively open to people in helping professions. This training is open to people from diverse backgrounds. I am trained to train anyone in EFT.

I like to meet with anyone who is interested in this training, and to get a sense of where they are at in their own life and what is their motivation for doing the training. Do they have the capacity to commit to doing this training now, as it is quite a big commitment. And will they be a good fit for the group?

If you have no therapy background at all, that is okay. You will get a good foundation in what is important in terms of working with new clients, how to assess how regulated your client is, how to manage emotional intensity and how to deal with trauma in a session. Lots of great EFT practitioners have background in therapy at all.

After I complete a level 1 and 2 training, am I able to practice EFT with others?

Yes, if you feel comfortable doing so.

In my opinion, it is best practice for all people new to learning EFT to have some group or individual mentoring to have professional support and guidance along the way.

If I complete a level 1 & 2 EFT training does that mean I am certified in EFT?

No. The EFT International Level 1 & 2 training (including the Bubble) is a pre-requisite for going on to do certification in EFT. However, the certification process is a totally separate process, which will be discussed briefly at the end of the training. Read the page on Certification to see what is required.

Once you complete the Level 1 and 2 training you can meet with me to discuss the possibility of doing Certification with me as your mentor.

Can I call myself an EFT practitioner after completing a level 1 and 2 training in EFT?

The EFT industry is currently not regulated in Australia or Internationally. There is nothing to stop you from calling yourself an EFT Practitioner after you have done a training in EFT. If you are trained in EFT and you are practicing EFT, it is not inaccurate. Provided you do not claim that you are a Certified EFT Practitioner if you are not, that is okay.

In my opinion, to be a competent and safe new EFT practitioner, it is best practice to have some kind of guidance, whether this is through individual or group mentoring. You can have both with me and just pay as you go. You don’t need to be doing certification to have mentoring with me.

Are all EFT trainings programs the same if they are run by an EFT International Trainer?

No. There is quite a difference between how each trainer provides their EFT training, because EFT International gives us the flexibility as Trainers to run our trainings in our own style.

There is content which all trainers must include in a Level 1, 2 or 3 training (from the core syllabus) which provides some level of standard practice. Provided EFTi trainers are covering the EFT International core syllabus for the level we are offering (Level 1, 2 or 3) then we can also include some other material, if appropriate.

What’s different about training in EFT with Jules?

In all of my trainings, I include additional information on trauma, the nervous system, and working somatically with trapped survival stress in the body. I emphasise the importance of psycho-education, as I know it helps our clients settle into the EFT process if they understand how and why it works, and what to expect.

I believe this is essential knowledge for anyone offering or receiving EFT.

I teach EFT the slow, safe and gentle way, as I find this works well with most people.

My approach is based on vast experience in the niche of using EFT to help people recover from sexual trauma. Seven years of working full-time in my private EFT practice (initially also in a public health setting) with people who have experienced significant trauma. So this unique perspective comes through, and I tend to include a lot of stories, and case examples to make the material easy to understand. Many people appreciate my ability to explain EFT in a very relatable way, by using a lot of clear real life examples, and funny stories.

You can read more about my approach, here.

Are all EFT Certification Programs the same?

Definitely not.

Again, there is a lot of variety in the way different EFT Certification Programs are conducted, even within EFT International, depending on how your individual trainer runs their program.

So it is a good idea to have a list of questions to ask if you are considering a number of different mentors to work with.

There is, of course, some consistency in terms of what the minimum requirement is with EFT International—see below. But please use your own due diligence, and check the EFTi website to be certain about he requirements: www.eftinternational.org

Minimum certification requirements from EFT International:

  • Pass relevant Practitioner exam

  • Submit 50 session notes to Mentor of EFT practice sessions (minimum 45 min length)

  • Conduct practice sessions with 20 different individuals.

  • This total includes 3 x separate client case studies and

  • 1 personal case study.

  • Video recording of an EFT practice session

  • 6 x hours of mentoring (group or individual) with an approved mentor.

What’s different about completing EFT Certification with Jules?

My certification process exceeds the EFTi requirements for certification, as do all of my trainings.

This is because in my experience the minimum requirement is just that: a minimum. I believe that more is required to produce a safe and competent EFT practitioner who knows how to manage trauma well.

This view is informed by my work mentoring and certifying Psychologists, Social Workers and other mental health professionals, who often are dealing with complex clients with known trauma histories, and who often have the associated diagnosed mental and physical health problems.

You can read more about certifying with me on my EFT Certification page.

Once I am an Accredited Certified EFT Practitioner, how much mentoring should I have to meet the requirements for EFT International?

Certified EFT practitioners are required to have 6 hours of mentoring each year. This can be either group or individual mentoring, or a combination of both.
