EFT Training in ‘The Bubble’

This is my signature EFT training which I developed especially for mental health professionals like me, and others working with people who have experienced trauma.

The Bubble is the training I wish I had seven years ago when I began learning EFT, because I needed way more than what I received in my original Level 1 and 2 trainings.

I had so many questions, about so many things when I was learning EFT, and no one to ask.

So, I built a model of training that reflects what would have really helped me back then.

Learn to surf the Fourth Wave of Therapy with me.

Training in EFT Level 1 & 2

Why ‘The Bubble?’

‘The Bubble’ describes how I want the training to feel for participants: like a little bubble of safety.

I want people to look forward to coming each week, to share their experiences in a safe and confidential environment, to ask their questions, to experience EFT for themselves in their own bodies, and to continue the learning with the support of other likeminded people. It is a small group training where the priorities are the safety and regulation of all participants. You can get to know your group and me, as your trainer, well.

When I began learning EFT, I needed community! A tribe of other people to connect with, to keep learning about EFT, and be inspired by others who were doing the same thing. We are pioneers—it’s not easy being a pioneer and bringing in this fourth wave of therapy. It takes considerable determination and commitment. But we are doing it because it’s better for our clients and it’s better for us.

The Bubble also describes how I think about working with trauma in the body.

The trauma capsules of our clients are like invisible “bubbles” in the body which are very easily popped in some people, so we have to approach working with people and their bodies in a very gentle way, going slowly and checking in regularly to see how they are finding the EFT process.

Some people come to us, and their trauma capsules are already popped; they are experiencing a lot of distressing symptoms, re-experiencing past traumas in their present with flashbacks, nightmares, hyper-vigilance, anxiety, and sleep problems. Their capacity to handle EFT may be limited initially, as they are barely handling their life as it is, so we don’t want to do anything to contribute to their overwhelm.

This is why working with trauma is put right at the beginning of the training and weaved all the way through it—rather than as something to learn separately or later. Trauma is part of the human experience, and it is not possible to avoid encountering trauma when doing EFT. We need to feel prepared and not scared when our clients are feeling some trauma activated in a session, so we can help them ride the big waves of emotion, sensation and intensity they feel.

Being informed about what is going on helps us as practitioners to know we CAN do this, and passing on this education to our clients from the start of the process helps them to understand that this is supposed to happen in an EFT session. It doesn’t mean anything is “wrong”.

The Bubble Structure

The Bubble EFT training is an online training which is spread out over 8 x weeks, and goes for 4 x hours each week.

In this format, there is less chance of zoom fatigue and information overwhelm.

The information is delivered in manageable chunks.

This model allows more time for integrating the learning and practicing the skills.

More time to ask questions and discuss your experiences.

More live demonstrations.

More opportunities to practice the techniques each week, both in the training and with swap partners.

What to Expect

We go slowly, there is an emphasis on safety, building rapport, regulation, learning about capacity, education about trauma and how it shows up in the nervous system.

Lots of repetition. I understand from personal experience that most people need a lot of repetition to get the basics of EFT.

Lots of support from Emotional Assistants. Within this small group, participants will often have an Emotional Assistant with them for an entire practice session.

I like to model EFT to participants. This allows them to see how I work with clients, from the beginning, so that they get to see this in action and can practice the structure themselves.

What You’ll Learn

How to use EFT for:

  • Fear and Phobias

  • Addictions and Cravings

Bubble Benefits

The Swap Partner Bonus

As a participant in The Bubble you will be paired with another participant who you will be expected to tap with each week in between the training sessions, for about an hour.

One of the things I always get great feedback on after each Bubble EFT training, is how much people appreciate having a weekly swap session with another participant for the duration of the training. As it feels like a “safe” person to practice with. Having someone to talk to about the training and your experiences makes it all more engaging and more fun.

Learning EFT should be fun!

Many find the swap partner arrangement to be so beneficial that they continue it long after the training has finished. And I have seen some partnerships develop into beautiful supportive friendships, where both people continue to support one another throughout the EFT Certification process, and in life in general.

More Emotional Assistance

Another thing I always get lots of positive feedback on is the support participants receive from Emotional Assistants (EA’s) throughout this training.

I always have several Certified EFT Practitioners help me out in this training, as I believe that having an Emotional Assistants present during the practice sessions is an important part of a safe learning environment.

I choose experienced EFT practitioners who I know well for their presence, empathy, and willingness to support others who are learning EFT. EA’s are there to answer questions during practice sessions, and if anyone becomes dysregulated during the training, an EA will assist that person to re-regulate and return to the training.
